just finished putting together my new build
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Foxconn C51XEM2AA- 8EKRS2H Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 Motherboard
iStarUSA Nitro Ax S-10000B Black ATX Full Tower Computer Case
eVGA 256-P2-N567 Geforce 7900GT KO Superclocked 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video
the problem is i ended up with a bad 7900 gt which has issues that have been pretty well documented on the net, primarily overheating and screwed up in game graphics ( oblivion ruled for 5 hrs before the problems started). what i need are some opinions on what to do next.
a. exchange the card eith evga for one of there new batch of 7900 gt's
b. rma the card to new egg and buy a diifferent card
c: any other options

Your best bet though is to do cross shipping with EVGA they will send you a replacement and then you have 30 days to send yours back. Thats what I've done with my 7900GT CO. If you can RMA it with newegg thats fine too since you'll get one of their "Reloaded" versions; you'll be without a card for a few days if you go the newegg route.

I doubt Newegg will let you exchange it for a different card. But if they do, they have a Sapphire X1900XT for $325 AR which will destroy the 7900GT in Oblivion.

If Newegg will pay the exchange shipping for a new 7900GT SC, I'd do that.

If you have to pay the shipping, they won't exhange it toward a X1900XT, then go through eVGA. Scary thing is some people claim to have received a few bad cards in a row. But in the end eVGA will make good I'd think. Just may cost you a heap of shipping charges.

the new batch is already on newegg.. sorry to hear about your card.
you can rma it to evga for the new batch. or rma it to newegg for a diffrent card. i've done alot of forum surfing and decided on the x1800xt. same price if not a tad cheaper than your 7900 . heck i think newegg has a x1900xt for 320, so that might be an option. also depends on the games you want to play.
open gl games are a tad faster on the 7900 untill you start using aa and hd.
plus with ati you can aa and dh both at the same time.
