"Open Box" means the item was sold to a person, for whatever reason the perosn did not want it and returned the item.

It could have been a wrong part.

The item was defective.

The person didn't want it anymore.

Open box means that someone bought it, opened it, probably used it, and then returned it because they didn't like it (remember, satisfaction guaranteed!) or maybe it had some problems.

All OEM products will have that label on them.

Open box items can be a good grab if there is nothing wrong with them, you do take a chance but can get great deals too.

I tried it once, it did not work for me, the card was not working.
Not worht it if you ask me, espacilly if you get it on line

I have a phobia of buying used parts online unless the deal is insainly good and the part has a return policy that if it doesnt work I can return it (open parts have this type of warrenty ?) I was looking at a X1800 for 156$ open box.... I didnt buy it but maybe I should have I dont know ! *shrugs*

Edit:256MB's if that makes any difference on weather or not it was a deal.
