pdf files going out damaged

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics (More info?)

Since updating XP to SP2 and Office; pdf attachments sent
out won't open with the message 'file is damaged and
cannot be repaired'.

Anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it?
