Erratic Stand By Behavior

The Stand By feature on my Dell Dimension 4550 with Win XP
Home (SP1) is behaving strangely. When I invoke it (from
Start menu), the screen blanks, but in about 3-5 seconds,
the system reactivates. The Hibernate, Turn Off, and
Restart features work fine. This is recent behavior and
thee only
changes I've made recently is to update the BIOS from the
Dell site.

This is not a crucial problem as I can always invoke
Hibernate, or wait for the power settings to put the PC in
Stand By (that works!)

Any ideas appreciated.

Make sure none of your programs are preventing the computer from going to
standby. It sounds like a program is waking your machine...
