smoke from the power supply

I had smoke coming from the power supply. My house would have burned down if I wasn't awake. Has anyony ever had a power supply burn up or could it be something else?

Well what type of supply was it? I had it happen to a ultra 600w while i was using the pc (gray smoke) ,it turned out the exhaust fan toasted along with someother things , but i was still able to use it for a while.
I am always awake when the pc is on so i dont worry

Yep happened after a shortcut; not a lot of smoke, but the PSU along with the mobo and a printer were burned...

iv seen one with awsome light shows, only lasted a second or so

i kinda let it rip - it was an old AMD K6 system
