Hey guys.

i was about to order 2 7900gtxs for my rig and saw that for about 70eur less i could get 2 7900gx2 (which is Quad SLI)

Would this be a wise choice ?

I am getting the M2N32-SLI Deluxe MB from asus, which has the sata ports in a different position, as not to be blocked by long cards.

And since I am asking, does the 7900gtx/7900gx2 support running AA/AF/HDR at the same time?

Also: When running SLI I know that you can only have the game running on the DVIs (no dualview - that kind of thing). If I have 2 screens attached to different DVIs, will they both show the game?

Thanks for any answers .. looks like I have pre-order insecurity ...

I wouldn't recommend either. DX10 cards are coming out in a few months, so it's not worth spending so much money now. Single 7900GTX or 7900GX2 is more than enough for now.

nVidia cards don't run AA + HDR, they cannot process those two at the same time. ATI's X1800 and X1900 can do that.

Make sure they're 7950GX2s and not real 7900GX2s.

Also to the dual display thing, at the moment you are unable to use more than one monitor with SLI or Crossfire. If you really must use both monitors for your games you'll need something along the lines of a Matrox triple head 2 go.

The 7900GX2 can be bought independantly and costs less than a 7900gtx ...
And YES it isn't the 7900gx2 that is 2x7900GT SLI ... it is 2x7900gtx SLI (or thats what the retailer sais at least)

I am aware of the Matrox solution ... but I don't want to use 2 screens as one, I want the same image to appear on both screens - like playing Fear on my screen and have the projector show my game ...

An another question on that: If I get a wide 20.1" will I be able to play old RTSs like Age of the Empires 2 and other games that run upto 1024x960 (or other fixed 4:3 resolutions) ?

Thanks ... I see a bit of a risk in getting quad SLI through the 7900GX2 so I will probably go with 2x7900gtx

Is the AA+HDR a hardware issue or a driver issue? Is there any possibility of it being resolved in some future driver release?

Thanks guys .. I have no idea who else I could ask :)

You are unable to use more than one monitor in clone mode, and the HDR+AA is a hardware issue that is not resolvable without extra programming on a game developer's part and even then it most likely won't perform as well as the ATI version.

It's not driver issue. It's architectural. And the 7 series chip (all of them) are not able to do HDR + AA.

So I can only use the screen in DVI port #1 when in SLI mode?

is there an adapter that allows 2/3 screens to be connected to the same DVI port? (With the same res ofcourse)
