Power usage of X700 AGP and X1600 pro AGP

I believe they consume less power than the 9800pro, more efficient and newer architecture! I have no figure though....maybe someone else does?

the difference is about 10 watts less.

The 9800Pro consumes 47.25w of power under full load and stock speed.

The X700 consumes 33w of power at stock speed.

The X1600XT consumes 41.6 watts of power. Therefore the X1600Pro should consume less power than the X1600XT and definitely less power than the 9800Pro.

As the other guys pointed out you should be able to run either of those cards just fine.

It case you haven't considered it, the X800GTO I think would also be a good candidate. You shouldn't have problems powering it either and it would be faster than both of the cards that you were looking at.

Good point, and unless im mistaken then the x800GTO is similar price to both those cards (No more than $40 more?)

As it has been posted in other threads if you looking at getting a replacement for your old 9800 you may want to look at ATI website for some good cheap deals.

As long as your not concerned about 3.0 sm (which you shouldn't) then the x8X0 will eat the x700 (on x700 is 2.0b sm)[/i] and x1600 cards and are cheaper to boot.

edit: yes, i'm still using the frying card (but obviously wont load it with a game, it overheats and shuts down)

Just take out the frying card, use the onboard graphics until you get the new card!

An overheating graphics card could damage your AGP port, which wouldn't be good news!
