OK, so yesterday my PSU failed and basically fried inside. The mobo LED was on and a few fans started spinning. The actual PSU LED was orange...does this mean that no hard was done to the mobo/components?

It's a Thermaltake TR2-550W. I have read a lot of guides saying that orange = stand by mode...so is this a good thing for me or bad?

Only option you have now is to get a new PSU and see if your mobo/components have not been damaged. Maybe visually inspect the mobo for any burn marks to see if it was fried in anyway by the PSU. Don't dmg your machine any further by turning it on, if it still can, with that PSU. Get that sucker out, install a new one and boot the system up. That's really your only option. If your staying within the TH linee maybe you can look into the PurePower series.
