Well, I have basically an earlier version of this motherboard, but it was for a 478. It is no longer up on Newegg but heres a link from the Manufactuers site. (http://www.asrock.com/product/P4Dual-915GL.htm) It has the dual video cards and all. The reason I bought it was because of the mobo I got with my Dell that I ordered real cheap off of Dell Outlet. The problem was the Dell mobo only had 4 PCI slots. So heres the only problems I got with this board....
-Mine personally, only had PCI-e x4... very strange I know, it was not listed like that on Neweggs site and I didnt look at ASrock's site until I had already ordered it. It was sort of a bummer but I remember looking at benchmarks and the difference between the 4x and 16x was minimal(No more than 3 fps).
-It claims to come with (or at least mine did) ASRock Overlocking crap or something, but I have updated the BIOS and still cannot find this anywhere. Its not a big deal but I was always curious.
I don't overclock mine so I can't tell you how good it would be for that though I expect not very good judging by the price. However, I have had no actual problems with it. When I first put it in my case it had a short from one of the brackets inside the case but that was easily fixed. It's dependable I suppose. I am sure the customer service blows but oh well. I payed 42 bucks for it and almost a year later (I purchased it last August) it hasn't failed me. So make your own decisions. Im pretty sure Tom's had an ASRock board included in their $740 dollar gaming rig. Not 100% though. Hope that helped. BTW, first post.
cool i was mainly interested in how a VIA chipset would run a conroe. *i understand they arent out yet but if any had paired a 805 or presler with it it would give me a better idea of how good this board is.
just seemed so interesting i was curious to see if any had tried this mobo yet. its pretty much got dual everything.
agp + pci-e 4x, DDR + DDR2, support for conroe, prescott, pentium D, and some other crazy crap all thrown together.
on the ASRock brand in general, I've heard its hit and miss... they sometimes make the cheapest crappy crap... and other times pull friggen huge fat rabits out of tiny prices.
The printing of Conroe on the board is to make sure when you're buying the Revised boards (since ASRock is revising a lot of boards to work for Conroe), that you buy the right revision. Any board with Conroe printed on it is revised for the Conroe release. They likely did this because most sites, while showing pictures, don't give revision numbers of the boards. So this way, when you see the picture of the board, you can see its Conroe.
I wouldn't expect you're buying a dreamboard, however, if you're on a budget like most of us, it'll prolly do ya good. When ya buy cheap boards though, I'd keep a rather good eye on everything, and plan to upgrade to a better board in 1.5 years or less when all the nice shiney features blossom for the Conroe
