How important is cooling with SATA HDs??

I am about to build a system tomorrow with a Seagate 160GB SATA HD. How important (if at all) is it to add some kind of cooling solution to deal specifically with the HD? I was in a store a couple of days ago and saw a HD cooler but I figured it was probably uneeded as long as I have good air flow through my case...

Your thoughts???

My system specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe Socket T (LGA 775)
Processor: Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield
RAM: pqi Turbo 2GB 240-pin DDR2 667 (PC2 5400)
Case: Cooler Master Centurion 5 CAC-T050-UW
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA NCQ 7200PRM 160 GB
Graphis Card: VGA XFX|GF 7300GS 256MB PVT72GWANG
Cooler: Zalman CNPS9500 LED 92mm 2 Ball Blue Light Cooling Fan

It's as important as hard drive cooling with an IDE drive. If you have good airflow through your case by virtue of a system fan or two, you're probably OK. That said, heat is the major cause of premature hard drive death, so I'd err on the side of caution, especially if the machine is going to be in a room that tends to be on the warmer side.

I have not seen the case yet but I am assuming the hard drive will go behind the 80mm fan

Thanks for everyone's advice.

Faster transfer rates don't equal more heat, but faster RPMs do.

My 10k drive is half drive/half heatsink, so that's fine, but anything more than that and you'll need some cooling.

Also, think about drive density - if there's one drive on its own with no others around it it'll be fine. Like I said, my 10k on its own is fine, but the 4 10ks in my drive cage in my server need a mahoosive fan to keep them cool.

Coolermaster is the way to go.
I take it that already has a fan to blow air over the HD area (80 mm) and the side cpu air intake funnle that lets the cpu fan draw in cool outside air(works like a champ and no extr fan needed). Many of the newer ones use 120 mm fans.

I remove the foam pads on all the air intakes for improved airflow as well and also use a metal nibbler tool to remove the exit fans guard (an extra 70% exhust flow).

Coolermaster FTW.
