Ok, I recieved my AGP Sapphire X800gto a couple days ago, and it has been nothing but problems.

1) When windows is starting up, there are artifacts on the progress bar.
2) When on the desktop (no drivers), there are vertical lines (checkerboard style) all over, and the resolution is minimum (640x480 256 colors)

3) When I am installing the drivers, Windows recognizes that it is a X800gto, and loads the drivers. The artifacts go away, and the resolution stays the same. Later, if I try and change the color depth to 32Bit, the monitor goes black.

Is this a heat issue, or just a bad card? Please Help.

Sounds more like a driver issue to me

Check the basics 1st:
Is your PSU good enough?
Is the card seated properly?
Are all the connectors in?

Did you remove the old drivers especialy if they were nvidia drivers before this card if so you need to remove them with a driver cleaner.

Try a different driver release

Then of course the card culd just be faulty.

my previous drivers were from a Radeon 9550, catylyst, so I think that there should be no conflict. Anyways, I decided to RMA the card, and get an X850 pro R480. Thx for the reply.
