Flashing a X800XT (AGP) Bios on a X800XL GPU

Hey, well i finally got a new video card, a X800XL, and it not a bad card. But I need a little more preformance, I've replaced the stock HS with a zalman 700, and OC'ed it to 430/530. But not quite enough to push my 24" LCD @ 1600x1200. So heres my question. Can i can flash an XT bios on to my XL card. I've search at least 6 or 7 fourms, and done the google thing. A couple of people talk about but, but no affirmitive yes or no. Any suggestions?

There's no real advantage to flashing to an XT. They both have the same number of pipelines. I'd just overclock and be done with it.

But woundt flashing the bios, allow me to get a better clock speed?

Not neccesarily. The clock speeds depend on the voltages and the quality of the chips and the what it is (r480 etc). Flashing it to an xt bios would set the clock speeds higher by default. Not neccesarily higher.

Can you tell us exactly which card you have or post a link to what kind of card you have?

use Atitool if you run into a max OC on gpu and mem well either live with it or move on.

I don't think you want to get into a mess with voltages and whatnot.

I would have to agree with everyone else on this.Not much of any increase other than maybe stock clock rates by flashing to xt bios.just leave as it is and get as much oc'ing out of it that you can.Goodluck.

The Geforce 5900XT overclocks much better on a 5950U BIOS, because this actually changes the voltages availible to the chip, and changes the memory latencies allowing a much higher memory clock.

Its unlikely this is the case here as the chips are pretty close, but it may be worth a try, you can always flash back assuming you have a PCI card to boot with and reflash.

R420 core? Yes, you can flash with an XT bios as long as its the same core and memory config. R430?? -- Forget it.
