dual gigabit lan

Can someone please explain to me what dual gigabit lan is for, what it can do for me, how i use it and whatever else you can tell me.
also i'm wondering if i can connect my playstation2 to my comp and go online with one of the lan slots? as you can tell i know nothing about it. lol
