Hello,

my DC is go down. System dostn start, but data on disc I can read. I have a
image 5 months old.
I just need copy AD from disk to new one with old Image. Which files I need
copy, its possible?

Please for quick help.

Well, don't be so sure that's all you need to do...

Assuming you only have one DC and this is the latest backup, you will need
to copy the NTDS folder and then boot into DSRM and mark this as an
authorative restore. I'm not sure about the SYSVOL -you can probably get
away without doing that.

It would be better if you could restore using backup software.

However, it sounds to me like the AD isn't the issue, and it's the OS that's
dead? Perhaps there's a better way of doing this...

Can't you try and repair Windows first?

Then can't you try a restore from the old backup?

If all else fails, maybe you could build a new server, and try to manually
restore the system state from the OS that's broken but readable, by exporting
the registry hives offline, and the SYSVOL, NTDS, etc. and copying them to
the new DC?

But I can not say what the chances of this working are...
