Hi,
I want to build trust relationship between a 2K domain and remote NT4 ones.
I could add the 2K domain as trusting domain on my NT4 (I guess that in that
case, there is no check of the availability of a DC in the trusting site)
When I tried to add the NT4 domain as trusting/trusted domain on the 2K DC,
I got the following error: "the SOMEDOMAIN domain cannot be contacted. If
this domain is a Windows domain, the trust cannot be set up until the domain
is contacted."

Computer can ping each other (PDC of the NT4 domain and DC of the W2K
domain).
Computers are on the same site.
I think it is a DNS problem but i dont know haw to establish zone transfer
between DNS's. Please help!

Thanks.

Both PDCs of each domain in the trust must be able to resolve each other's
<1B> and <1C> NetBIOS records. Install a WINS server and point the PDC's at
it so they can resolve this - or create an LMHOSTS file and place it on each
server so they can resolve these records.

Dave's suggestion is a good one.

You might also want to install the WIN2000 Support Tools on the WIN2000
Domain Controller that holds the FSMO Role of PDC Emulator and try using
NETDOM to create the trust instead of using the ADDT MMC. This will always
work, assuming that everything else is set up properly.

There is also a MSKB Article on how to use LMHOST files for setting up
trusts. These files are very specific in their format!
