looks like a very good system there, i an tell you that your 790 will be at waste in abut 4-5 months when dx10 cards come out, for now you should get maybe a 7600ggt or 7900gt. as for the mobo if you not using sli get the m2n-e if your planning on sli get a 590 chipset like the m2n32 or the foxconn. but if you low on the cash for those the m2n sli deluxe will not be a bad choince either i have it and its just very picky with ram, also do ou plan on overlocking or anything, if so please state your memory details. and for the soundcard the only thnk i can say is x-fi.
Is it really worth waiting for the DX10 cards, and roughly when are they coming out?
Also, what about these new Intel processors compared to the 64?
DX10 cards will be out with Vista. Vista will require a DX10 card for max performance.
Core2 is up to 87% faster than AM2 A64 in some benchmarks. 20-30% average in favor in Intel which does not lose a single test.
Wow, so it's much better than the AMD CPUs... maybe it will be worth waiting for DX10 and Intel's CPUs. Any thoughts? Are AMD coming up with anything new soon?
Thanks for all your input, guys, it's much appreciated.

AMD is coming out with 4x4 sometime in 2007, which is 2 dual core AthlonFX CPUs working together with Coherent HT.
