Stepping: the BP is from the E3 stepping, CG from E4. Generally speaking, not much is different but the later stepping (E4) should have small improvements/tweaks in it.
Will you notice it? Probably not (some places claim E3 is better for overclocking, other claim E4 is, they are probably about the same so that the statistical noise of any one stepping's performance makes both possible).

Just some stuff to think about. I appologize If you've already heard/know all this:

If your going to go AMD, you may want to skip the socket 939 chip upgrade and move to a socket AM2 mobo. Basically the same chips as 939, but they use the newer DDR2. Also AMD wont support socket 939 much longer, meaning its not really going to be upgradable to much longer, but AM2 will be around for awhile.

If you can wait, huge price drops are coming for AMD on 24 July, so you will be able to get a significantly faster chip for the same money.

Finally, if you havent heard, Intel's Core 2 will be out in about a week and a half. From all the reviews, it will quite a bit faster than AMD, but priced very low.

Just some stuff to

Yes i know all this....i want to stick to my 939 plan...cause Im cheap! And the 939 is good enough for what I'm doin. I can upgrade my MB,Processor,GPU...for about $350....$400...get a disent rig that will last me another 2 years or so??!!! Reuse my OCZ memory,HD,case, case fans, PSU...it's a cheap upgrade for me....not much of a gamer...just pokin around...play a little Ages of Empire now and them...My sons a Big gamer...His rig is a AMD 3200 939...pretty fast! so this should be a Great upgrade for me. I new when i wrote this that I'd get the AM2 talk....I do apreciate all the advise givin...but I'm stickin to my plan! Just wondered about the diff...looks like most people are buyin the BP chip!!??!!! Any one else have there 2 cents worth???

AM2 is at the same price as 939 or cheaper plus DDR2 should be cheaper than regular DDR. Hands down the AM2 platform is a better choice.
