don't bother waiting for conroe if you have a $500 budget. $500 won't get you much, but i'll do the best i can.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+

RAM: OCZ EL 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR400

Mobo: Asus A8N5X

Video: eVGA Geforce 7300GS

Hard Drive: Saegate Barracuda 7200.9 80GB SATA2

Total before taxes and shipping: $400.56

How old are you?

Because, a job could get you an extra few hundred, which could be really effective on your new build :)

BTW, switch the 3200+ wit the 3500+ : cheaper, and virtually same speed.

uhh.... i originally suggested the 3500+..... unless you meant to say swap the 3500 for the 3200.

Edit: No, they aren't virtually the same speed.... there's a 200Mhz difference. I say give him the extra 200Mhz with the 3500+ and if he wants more speed, he can overclock from there. There's only a $10 difference between the 2 chips anyway.

Since that build is still below his budget I would upgrade the Video Card to a 7600.

Anyway, the prophecy's right......the 3500+, and maybe a X1600XT in place of a 76'?

You guys didn't read my suggestions very well did you?....lol.... go back and have another read.

switch the video card PLEASE! Lol. A 6600GT or a 6600LE is roughly the same price on newegg.com and will outperform any petty 7300GS.
