Hello,
I own a Dell Dimension 4600. It has a Pentium 4 processor in at 2.8 Ghz on a socket 478 platform. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to replace the cpu with a 3.0 Ghz model that features a larger 800Mhz fsb and HT technology. Would I run into any compatability issues with my current pos motherboard?

It's hard to say. Intel chipsets control the FSB so there is a chance it won't if your current mobo only supports 533MHz.
