I use an old P90 every once in a while and I can't tell if it crashes or is just trying to write from memory to disk or what it's doing. I don't remember them feeling that slow back in the day.

Depends, if its a P4 i would say 128mb of DDR, if it was an Athlon XP i would say 512mb of SDR.
If it boots then it works, simple enough ?
I have a Cyrix 166 with 64MB EDO, if you fancy buying it from one of my customers. Be a nice step up for you.

128MB DDRRAM? Do they still come in that small volumes?
Old... way to old.
My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dimms when I turn it on
I don't think you can find them that small for PC2700, but for PC2100 you can.

He said the fastest... so that would be PC3700. Those only come in 256 or 512MB.

Svol, this thread is almost a year old.

Heh, it is really old huh?
It depends on what you do though. If you require more than 128 MB, then you'll get a ton of swapping, in which case the 512 would be faster. Since most OS and programs now can eat up 128 MB easily, I'd say the 512.
Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.
I know... and I'm pointing out that it is totally obsolete.

Yeah, all that the friggin RAM speed does is to improve performance, not speed up your loading or whatever. People ask this too often, to get more SDRAM, or less DDR. Very uninformed IMO. More RAM is better simply if you are having too much swapping, in which case it will improve performance as well as make loading better. Upgrading to faster RAM but with less amount, is the stupid's move, there is no difference, only applications and games which take advantage of bandwidth will be happier.

I think that is one of the best ideas... poor Emma.

She will be blessed by my sticky, rancid mess. Really she is a very lucky girl. I just hope it doesn't melt her face off.
