For any and all that have the time to answer...

I recently bought a new Power Supply because I could've swore my cheap PoWorks 600W was ticking while in windows... soooo... I replaced it with a Thermaltake 430W. Considering the fact that I mis-diagnosed the ticking (turned out to be my sata drive) did I make a mistake? I mean, Thermaltake is surely better quality than PoWorks, right? Or is 600W down to 430W just dumb? I have an MSI Neo-2FISR skt 478 w/a 3.0ghz P4, 1gb pc3200, a PNY 6200, a 120gb WD sata, a 80gb sata(the bad one), a Sony DVD-RW, and 5 fans. Surely the 430W is fine since I'm typing this right now, but I'm going to want to upgrade to a Conroe/PCI-E setup as soon as it's out.... would either of these power supplies be worthy? If not what would be a good one? I don't need a top-of-the-line PSU, and a $130 just isn't in my budget... unless it's needed, I guess. Thanks for any help/advice!!!!

Considering I have an Antec NeoHE 430W powering the rig in my sig, I don't think it is too much to assume that a good 430W PSU could power a similar rig with an X1900XT...

theramltake 430w PSU isnt good.

NeoHE has triple 15amp rails. thermaltake as single 18 amp rail.

Well it's defiantly good to hear that I made a good decision for once! At least for now anyways. Either of those two power supplies I could buy... well, actually I should've just bought one of those instead of the Thermaltake! And when I go Conroe, I'm probably only going to buy a decent(not top) MB, 1 or 2GB of ddr2, and a 7600GT. (and just use all my current stuff) Shouldn't be too much of a load, but I'm going to upgrade the PSU anyway... so thanks for you help guys! Seriously, it's a huge weight off of my shoulders!

np, just be sure to generally stay away from thermaltake's low end products other companies give better stuff for the same prices.

also dont buy 550w PSU that are 20 bucks. you WILL get shafted.
