I just want to get an idea of which Conroe is going to be the best seller. I'm pretty sure it will be the E6600 since it beats a FX-62 while costing around $316.

I voted and am waiting several months to feel out the vibes first and let new products arrive/merge...

Then I suspect I would be interested in the E6700 or 6600... will know in a couple of months for sure...

Already preordered the E6300. Looks like most people are getting the midrange models but I'm on a tight budget. :P

I'm planning to get the E6300 at it's launch. I'm not sure if I'm going to overclock it since it's going to be a real boost from my current Athlon XP 2000+. Also, I don't see the point in paying for that extra cache.

E6600 - I forsee the 4mb L2 being much more likely to come in handy than any quad-core solution, at least for a long while.

I'm not going to upgrade to another dual core, but Kentsfield may be a different story.

According to Anandtech the extra cache provided about 3.5% average boost in performance and up to 10% in some cases. The higher cache is Intel's way of making up for not having a built in memory controller.

Also, I'm in the same boat as you are. I'm looking to upgrade my P4 (socket 478) 2.8 GHz prescott to a Conroe. I imagine the the boost in performance isn't the only thing I will be noticing (like the reduced heat). :)

I'm in the same boat, working off a Single-Core 2.8Ghz 400Mhz-FSB Prescott Socket 478-dead end. I will be getting some dual-core thing before the year is over, but I'm going to see how the prices settle and a few OEM offerings. I'm going to be building it, I just want to see what components they are using and such. Last year, when I was about to get a computer, I was so sure of getting a X2 3800+ and OC'ing as far as I could. But now, I may have a change of heart.

I've got my eye on the e6600, but if there are any supply issues I will order the e6400. Need to get it in before August 9ths YAR!

The E6600 for now. But will probably transplant it to my HTPC next year and go for a faster 45nm Conroe; if Intel can maintain it's schedule.

I like the 6400, i would want to overclock it and spend less money. But i am in no rush to upgrade yet.

Looks like the E6600 will be the most popular chip, I hope Intel is making enough for everyone. :D
