Windows f'd up, help?

Well, a couple of days ago, windows froze (I don't remember what I was doing), so I restarted, but It wouldn't boot. After selecting 98, it stops at a blinking cursor, won't boot. I've tried reinstalling, but I can't get my comp to boot from a floppy (starts to access disk, but nothing happens), I'm getting kind of annoyed. I'd just say fsck windows, but there are some things I need to use. Any help is appreciated.

Make sure boot sequence is set to A: before your hard drive. Also make sure your floppy drive and cable are functioning properly.

I'm only having problems with ninety eight disks. Linux, win2k disks work fine. I'd tried booting from the 98 cd, but I get the same problem. Basically, nothing 98 will work.

Will it do 98 in safe mode?

No, It won't do safe mode. I can't even get to the f8 menu. It stalls at a flashin cursor. I formatted the Win_C partition, same problems though. I also tried booting from a cd, no luck.

Okay here's what I'm getting from your post. You have a Multi-Partitioned HDD? Is that correct? You can boot into other partitions but not the WIn98 Partition which is C right? If not where does this blinking cursor happen before you see the Win98 welcom screen? If so how far before? Are you familure with Post Test? IE.. Checks Ram, Keyboard, etc. Please be a little more specific. My first impression is your HDD has some bad errors. <- Really Bad. If you can boot into one of the other partitions check to see if you access into the Win98 Partition. What Partition booter are you using? need more info.

System posts fine, the cursor happens right after I select Windows from LILO.
And I can access the partition from Linux.

Check your lilo.conf file in linux to make sure that it points to the correct partition. It might have been changed somehow. Can you try another win98 disk at all? Borrow one perhaps?
