Anybody know of any benchmarks that compare 965 and 975 based motherbords?
I'm undecided on which to buy and hoping for a nice comparison of features / overclocking & overall speed.

Anybody know of any?

I'm waiting on benchmarks too. But, I also want benchmarks from
DFI's motherboard using the RD600 chipset from ATI. Waiting for
it to be release.

I will be buying a MB the day I can get my hands on a E6600.
Gave my PC to my son for good work through teh school year...
So now I have just my server that has integrated video...
Crappy for gaming...(non existant)

So I'm chomping at the bit to get a new PC.
Waiting is the worst part but i want to get a good board...
but not pay more then I need to for features I will never use.
Guess i just have to wait some more.... :(

Image gallery of Conroe compatible MBs:

http://www.tomshardware.com/pictur [...] 60714.html
...

Seen them...
been reading the threads on this forum for a while ...
my current case for my pc is a modified Intel Engineering sample case.
use to have an old Pent Pro 400mhz in it...(engineering sample)
http://www3.telus.net/MadHacker/SmallCase.html
nice little 15" case but cramped...
would like to find something a couple inches bigger but that would be another thread...

back to the original problem...
MB I'm looking for would be for possilbe crossfire support, plan to get a x1900xt then a better card once DX10 comes out.
possilbe 2 hardrives SATA and a burner.. nothing much else to plug into it...
so all the extra stuff on the board would be unnessasary... ESATA, firewire, digital audio out, dual lan... all would be un nessasry. for me...
but i would like to overclock some...
so like i mentioned i guess i wait untill there are more reviews... comparisons of motherboards out...

The ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
has the nVidia 590 chipset.

Google http://www.google.com
searching for:

Umm.. correct me if i'm wrong but that board is for the AMD's M2 processor..
won't fit unless i use a big hammer...

unless you are just refer to this board to show what the chipset has for capabilities and that it would be simular for an intel board.
I'll take a look at it...
but i don't know of any boards that will be ready by the time i'm ready to buy it.

I realize that: I just posted those links
so we'd have some idea what to expect
from the new nVidia chipsets.

Do you happen to know the status of
nVidia's chipsets for the Conroe?
...

Unfortuatly I don't have any idea as to the release of the nVidia based MBs.
I imagine that they may come out after i buy my MB considering i havn't heard much about them as of yet.
well I could always just buy a cheep board...
ASRock has something that doesn't look to bad...

I ordered the P5w dh mobo and should be up and running by next weekend. I figure if I can get near 4ghz with air on a pentium d 805 then it's a good board. I had the gigabyte 965-ds3 board but sent it back... lots of problems.

I have been looking at that board... unfortunatly it costs $278.99.
I have been looking at ASRock 775XFIRE-ESATA2 for $113.85.
and seems to review pretty well...
but for me it would be a diffrence of 7900GT or a X1900XT i would prefer to go with the X1900XT but if i get the asus board i will most likely have enough $$$ for just the 7900GT in it's place.

edited to fix broke url.

From the specs at the link you provided,
it appears that the ASRock 775XFIRE-ESATA2
does NOT support the Conroe, however:

- LGA 775 for Intel® Dual Core Pentium® D / Pentium® 4 / Celeron® D, supporting Presler and Cedar Mill processors
- FSB 800/533 MHz
- Supports Hyper-Threading Technology
- Supports Untied Overclocking Technology
- Supports EM64T CPU

your right...
i ment to link in the ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 which ncix doesn't have on their website...
i just hope that when the 965 based MB come out that they won't be as expensive as the 975 as well as beeing pretty good overclokers...

I also had the Gigabyte 965-ds3 board. It sucked. I am returning it. I had problems with overclocking my Pentium D 805. It didn't allow me to go over 3.6ghz. You can't adjust the memory timmings. I had problems with the RAM slots giving errors also. Not much fun working with this board.

I had the GA-965P-DQ6 and it was bad! I F**ked with this thing for a week and thier tech's tried to convince me the CPU(D 805) was bad( and the first one may have been?) but when the seccond CPU worked for two days and then did the same thing? I gave up on them and found an Intell D975XBX rev304 at a local store.

This board KICKS BIGTIME A$$. To start it is beautifully laid out, everything is placed where it needs to be.No SATA ports blocked by PCI cards, no batteries under GPU's, the BIOS jumper is accessable, and all the fan sockets are near the fans. This mobo makes for neat wire routing, this is good for me with a clear case  . The set up and install worked the first time and intel's bios update is flaweless.
And Rev. 304 is ready for conroe 8) .

Just my two cents, once again Gigabyte mobo bad, Intel mobo good.
Asus mobos may be good too.

There is a very good review of boards at anandtech check it out.
A guy on a forum posted that he got 485FSB on Gigabyte 965p-ds3. I dont know if it's photoshoped image.
From what I've seen nvidia doesnt clock well, 965 goes up to 370FSB only 975X goes above 400FSB.
I believe ppl post all kind of s*** on the net and photoshoped images.

At the moment the best board for OCing conroe is the P5W DH Deluxe thats what anandtech says, but newer chipsets are around the corner.

Boostnjuice:

It's funny that we have had such similar circumstances. I bought the same motherboard and CPU and even the same video card. Haha. I finally decided on returning the Gigabyte MB after it wasn't working and am now selling the processor too. I am just going to get a new MB and Conroe processor.
