Consolidating Domains

In my current environment, I have an office in Colorado, and an office in
Iowa. I then have a parent domain called company, and child domains for each
of the offices Colorado.company.com, and Iowa.company.com. There are 2
dedicated T1's between the two offices. I want to truncate the child domains
into a single domain called company, and remove the 2 child domains. Is this
a bad idea? What is the best way to do this? Is it best to create 2 sites
within the single domain, and migrate all AD objects using the AD Migration
Tool? Do I need to worry about bandwidth considerably?

Yep, migrate the child domain users, groups and computers into the parent
using ADMT and demote the child domains. Then reuse the servers as DCs in
the new domain. Through sites, local DC/ GC and local DNS the line won't
see much action from the AD side...
