I fully understand that in order to have HDTV, you strictly need eaither a source or a video capture card (if you are using it for your pc).
Now how about gamming, if I was to buy an lcd hd monitor, would I be able to have HD-Graphics for my games?? or do I need a source for that to?? I figured usning a GeForce 7600GT would work for that.
Also, would a HDTV video capture card work if I was to hook it up to my geforce 7600, then to my lcd monitor??
I plan to get these products soon, please reply to this ASAP.

Thanks in advance.
you HAVE to have an hd source to get hd.
and not all games are hd compatiable very few actually.
or none that i can think of.
oh and you might post in the hardware section, as this place is
DANGEROUS .
I know that most games are hd, however so even if I do get that ati over-the-air hd, I still would have to have an hd source, but it said that you can have hd graphics on certain tv channels.
but what about buying a lcd hd monitor?? would that work??, I am so new to this lol.
oh and if the admins are watching this post, please move it to the appropriate forum section, thanks.

i dont know for sure about games being in hd(maybe 5 years from now)
as nothing compares to hd.
but i play games on multiple hd monitors (they look great)
you have to have (for movies and tv)
an hd capable monitor/tv
an over the air antenna/regular one works fine for me and =free.
and a reciever something like dtv= have to pay for.
as far as the admins getting after you for posting in the wrong
place. well i wouldnt worry about that too much.
but i would worry about just being in the wrong place
i.e. the community section/other.
better watch out for
w.w.
wingy

tom s.
the monkey guy
big mac
those guys arent human.
and yes some are admins and mods.
they are just mutants.
anyway welcome to t.h.g forums and for questions about computers
check the hardware section.
so basically what you are saying is: even if I do get the hdtv vid capture card and an LCD HDTV, I would STILL have to buy a source??, didnt the HDTV capture card say that its over the air??.
as for the other user, tomsmart: thanks for the link, that helped.
I'm not aware of any high def terrestrial broadcasts. I can get 16:9 digital here in the UK but for high def you need to go satellite or cable. I'm still guessing that the DRM will be cracked in Vista although it might take a while to happen. There are just way to many people wanting to do the sort of thing you describe for it not to.
I'll see what I can find out next week when I pop to the Sound and Vision show. There was more PC equipment there last year and it seems to be one direction the market is heading so I'm interested to see what they are doing.
In the US you can get HD terrestrialbroadcasts. Until Directv gets their new
satilites up and running later this year, it is how I get my locals in HD. With a
cheap $9 antenae.
A neat thing about digital channels is the numbers are arbitrary, so 22 is no
longer their frequency so with an antenae you can get 22, 22.1, 22.2, etc. 22
is normal broadcasts, 22.1 is HD, and 22.2 is my local dopplar radar 24/7. I'm
able to get about 8 channels this way on top of the few I get with Directv's
HD package.
All you need is a HD tuner, which Directv HD boxes also do. It scans for terrestrial
digital channels, and adds them to your channel guide. No switching back-and-fourth
needed. 8)
It's NFL Football playoff Sunday ... do you honestly expect some of us to read that friggin' long document. Hey, how about a one paragraph executive summary?
Windows Vista includes an extensive reworking of core OS elements in order to provide content protection for so-called "premium content", typically HD data from Blu-Ray and HD-DVD sources. Providing this protection incurs considerable costs in terms of system performance, system stability, technical support overhead, and hardware and software cost. These issues affect not only users of Vista but the entire PC industry, since the effects of the protection measures extend to cover all hardware and software that will ever come into contact with Vista, even if it's not used directly with Vista (for example hardware in a Macintosh computer or on a Linux server). This document analyses the cost involved in Vista's content protection, and the collateral damage that this incurs throughout the computer industry.
Executive Executive Summary
The Vista Content Protection specification could very well constitute the longest suicide note in history.

sorry i what i mean by (source) is.
i have an hdtv and all the components to get it.
but i only get around 15 channel/stations.
the rest are standard definition content.
Hmm...Saints maybe...but both games are too iffy for me to decide.
Now, if one of them had one of those ridiculous 8.5 point spreads I would take the points.
Captured over £400.00 on Saturday betting on Liverpool, I got the correct score and first goal scorer. Later that evening I bet a oner that Everton would get beaten the next day, they never.
You know that old cliché? When you play serious poker, the 1st thing you should do when you sit down at the table is to determine who the sucker is gonna be ... if you can't figure it out - it's you!
Now one of us has a dancing chicken, and one of us doesn't. You do the math.
