Hi there

I was wondering if you could help me with a question on stub zones.

My test forest is made up of two domains a.com and b.com.
a.com is the first domain the the forest and is an empty root. b.com will
be the work horse where everything happens.

I have got one DC in each domain .
Initially I configured the DC's using a standalone DNS server. I now wish to
integrate DNS into AD.
To do this I have, obviously installed dns, created a.com on the first dc
and b.com on the second dc. Now I want each domain to see the other. I was
going to use stub zones to do this.
On a.com, there is no problem, I can select the replication scope as "To all
DNS Servers in the AD domain a.com".
The problem is in b.com. When I try to create a stub zone on b.com(on the
DC/DNS server in b.com), I get the following error "The zone cannot be
replicated to all DNS servers in the b.com AD domain becuase the required
application directory does not exist....". Which application directory is it
talking about?
The only way I can solve the problem on b.com is to select "To all DNS
server in the AD forest a.com", which I think is a bit OTT and may cause
problems.

Thanks & Regards
p.s. I should note that the two domains are in non-contigious name spaces.
There are no child domains. I have a forest of Trees (I think that that is
the correct term).

You might want to stick this post in either the DNS news group (
microsoft.public.win2000.dns ) or in the 'WIN2003' news group (
microsoft.public.windows.server.active_directory ).

This is more of a WIN2003 thing than WIN2000.......
