trust relationship with NT domain

If I want to setup a trust relationship with an NT domain, across a WAN,
what do I need to do on my DC?

Do I have to just enter the IP address of the NT PDC into my DNS so that it
can resolve it, or do I have to create LMHOSTS entries?

Ziek,

I would strongly suggest that you use the Support Tools utility 'netdom' to
create this trust. You can use the Active Directory Domains and Trust MMC
but I have heard a lot of times that things do not work. You then use
netdom and it works! And nothing changed ( other than using netdom instead
of the ADDT MMC ).

The Support Tools can be located on the WIN2000 Service Pack CD-Media or can
be downloaded from the MS Web Site. I would stay away from using the
Support Tools located on the WIN2000 Server CD.....they are a bit outdated
( and had a few problems ).

Also, if you are using the LMHOSTS file you need to be very sure that the
spacing is correct.

Also, You may want to use the version of NetDom on the 2003 CD if at all
possible (this can also be gotten from the MS website.) This version is far
more flexible and can do a much better job for you.

Remember that there is nothing that needs to be handled just because it is a
WAN link. If you are going over the public Internet, NAT, or Firewalls,
then you have definite concerns and will have to allow the appropriate ports
to communicate between the environments.
