I'm building my first computer to take to college this fall. I'm on a $1,000-$1,300 budget. I would like to stay near the $1,000 mark. I've done some research and extensive looking and have come up with the following parts.

As you can see I have not figured out what ram, moniter, powersupply, or optical drives I plan on getting. If you could please help me by listing any suggestions that would be much appreciated. And if you could tell me if I could change any of the above items that would be appreciated as well :wink: .

Using Newegg.com as a reference, here are my suggested changes:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ <--- I know this is clocked lower, but it has double the L2 cache. If you really want more speed, just overclock it.

RAM: Corsair XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR2-800 <---- If you can afford it, get the 2GB set

Mobo: Asus M2N-E <---- No point in getting an SLI board if you're not going to use it.

Everything else looks good.
