Upgrading from a 5600 FX (blech)

Ok here's my dilemma. I have a GeForce 5600 FX (insert vomit here). I don't have a PCI-E slot (computer is 3 years old) so it's AGP or nothing. I figure this will be the last video upgrade before I remodel the entire rig wth PCI-E, but in the meantime I want something that will play FEAR, Hitman: Blood money, ES: Oblivion, Condemned etc etc.

My current setup is:
P4 3.0 ghz
2 gig of RAM (PC 3200)

Can I get away with running those games respectably on a 6200 or should I go for a 6800 or ?

Any advice is appreciated!

I honestly dont think you will get away with using a 6200 to play any games like fear or oblivion. Might be able to play them on low settings but i wouldnt keep my hopes up. The 6800 is a better option but you still will most likely not get medium level graphics out of it and have it still maintain decent frame rates. I can barely play fear on medium level graphics on my system.

I realize AGP is dead as Dillinger but I have to believe I can squeak something out of it. My rig is decent all around cept the video short comings.

I can't be the only dude still running AGP... Can I? haha

More advice please

I have a XFX 6800GT agp from a year or two ago, runs very nicely, i have it o/c to ultra speeds (although i can put it up to 425/1200 no problem) and i can run FEAR maxed out, Serious Sam 2 almost maxed out, Oblivion almost maxed out, and anything else probably maxed out (PREY, shadowgrounds, Doom3, etc) with playable frame rates. *note i disable shadows because to me they're worthless and suck up GPU power. Going too fast in FPS to admire shadows. I have to tell you that you MUST get a 6800GT, 6800Ultra, 7800GS, X800XL (or is it XT? whichever has 16 pixel pipes), X850XT

basically lets put it this way. For what you want, you need the following:

256MB
256-bit bus
16 pixel pipelines.

This'll be ok.

Thanks for the reply Korsen. I was hoping my system was still salvagable :D . I'll go for the 6800GT and save myself some coin.

Best card for the money would definetly be 6800. If you were going to the other side of the house a x800xl agp would be nice as well.
