What's the difference between these two types of LCD monitors?

Are they interchangable?

Will a VGA monitor be sufficient if my Adobe Premeire Elements 2.0 calls for an XGA monitor?

I've already purchased both the monitor and the software.

* VGA - 640 X 480
* SVGA - 800 X 600
* XGA - 1024 X 768
* QVGA - 1280 X 960
* SXGA+ - 1400 X 1050
* UXGA - 1600 X 1200
* QXGA - 2048 X 1536
* QSXGA+ - 2800 X 2100
* QUXGA - 3200 X 2400

* WXGA - 1280 X 800
* SXGA - 1280 X 1024
* WSXGA+ - 1680 X 1050
* WUXGA - 1920 X 1200
* QSXGA - 2560 X 2048

VGA isn't a very high resolution as you can see, they may just be talking about the 15-pin VGA connector though, if you are purchasing a TFT it's advisable to go for one with a DVI connector anyway.

BushLin, thanks for the great information on monitor resolutions.....I can now clearly see that mine is more like an SXGA since it is capable of 1280 x 1024 resolution.....it's even a little better than XGA.
