Hi. I am just wondering what resolution people play their games at today to see the benefits of some reviews, and most of all the benefit of SLi.

I tried to list all the common resolutions. I would've done some more oddball ones, but it won't give me any more options.

I always play at 320x240.

That's all Quake will let me go up to, but i'm not sure I should go higher anyway cause its a bit laggy as it is.

Actually, its not a monitor. I play on an oscilloscope.

Its also good for Pong! and SpaceWar. The response time shits all over LCD.

I voted 12x10 although I probably play 16x12 25% of the time. In Oblivion I have been playing 10x7 2xaa + HDR most of the time, but recently have been doing 12x10 no aa HDR also.

I used to play at 16x12, but had to replace my CRT with a TFT and it only goes up to 12x10, so that's where I am these days. Oh well, I can't really tell any difference anyway.

I say it depends on what type of game I am playing. but for the most part if it involves a gun or some type of aiming I go with 800x600 because it makes things huge and easy to hit.

I make up for the low field of view by cranking up the mouse, so with the big heads you dont need to be sniper steady with the aim. and besides I am much more of a up in your face with the sawn off type of player. That or a sniper, one of the two extreems, but preferably up close UT flack cannon style. Not a good mid range fighter and thats why im not so good because most fighting is mid range.

one other thing about being an up close fighter, it is so much fun to just run in the base balls out with the shotty kill 75% of the other team then once your dead have the rest of the team come in nab the flag and I will be respawnd at my base grab a sniper and cover the team running back.

I have never played a FPS where changing the resolution changed the size of my opponents. ?!? wtf...

I mean its not like when you change the resolution of my desktop and all the icons get bigger and smaller, so i'm wondering what FPS's have you played where this happens?!?

1280x1024, but only because I have an LCD monitor with this as native resolution. With a CRT montior I would have preferred 1024x768.

I play at 1280 x 1024, partly because that's what the LCD wants, partly because my eyes just can't see well enough if the stuff in the game gets too small. I could get a bigger monitor and higher resolution, but haven't seen the need yet.

So no lag playing at 1680x1050 with a single GPU solution. Interesting. Makes me think where SLi/Cross-Fire really are. As of now, the highest resolution ticked is the 1920x1200, by one person. I imagine running Far Cry on that possibly might take a dual-GPU setup for good FPS on a FPS.

I could play at 1920x1200 at the max in game settings with my 7800GTs if my monitor permitted; since I'm at 1680x1050 I can still increase the terrain lod ration and vegetation lod ratio to help retain world detail even from a very far distance. (Higher than in game max settings)

Ahh..So with dual GT's you play with a lower resolution, but you crack up the eye candy.

That is how I like to play; I have to play at my 17" highest resolution: 1280x1024 and I try to bump all the settings on high, but that is hard with a GeForce 4 Ti 4600, lol.

I see. So the cards at the very top alone can do pretty well, while SLi/CrossFire will only help at resolutions above 1920x1200. Intrestingly, few votes.

I would've prefer that the categories were in range, because you don't have enough widescren options and they aren't in my 'zone'.

I picke 12x10, but really for Oblivion it's custom widescreen, because it won't handle native 14x9.

yup and since my monitor only goes to 1680x1050 theres no need ATM to go to sli/crossfire (not to mention nvidia pissed me off for the last time)

I've have tried running BF2 at 1600x1200. Frame rates are okay but the CRT is hurting my eyes, I don't like CRT anymore and I have since switch to LCD. Planning to get 24" LCD next year when prices go down.
