Each root server has a share that is used for the namespace and
beneath that share you will see folders representing the namespace. As
you may have tried those folders are inaccessible.

Each link is a UNC path to a server and a directory on that server.
Again shares are used.

If you don’t use a certain DFS replica for a certain DFS link than
you can remove the share manually by right clicking the shared folder,
selecting properties, selecting the sharing tab and selecting do not
share the folder or remove share if more than 1 share exists for the
folder
The conditions and procedure applies for the root share

Only remove things is you don’t use them!
