GPS/BT problem

I have just bought a Loox 720 and TomTom GPS Bluetooth receiver + maps.
I have installed the software and can establish a GPS connection between the
devices - with a strong signal (5 green squares in BT connection maager).
But the bluetooth connection drops out after about 2 to 3 minutes before a
gps fix can be obtained. I have tried a soft reset but no difference.

Suggestions as to the problem and a likely solution would be appreciated.
