Can this motherboard support conroe out the box?

Becuase there it says the motherboard will need a new BIOS to support conroe. Is the mobo available to buy with the new BIOS?

If not... then is the Asus P5B a good choice?

The P5W supports Conroe after BIOS revision 501 and higher. I don't know any UK sites that sell the newest revisions, but there is a US site here that is selling revision 702, which is definitely compatible (but their price is definitely better than the site you listed!).

The new P965 chipsets only support one IDE drive (ie only one optical drive), so I would be careful about choosing the P5B.

of course it will depend upon which version of the mobo the seller is suppying, as per ianisborn, but the article gives the best rundown on mobos for conroe i have so far seen.

ASUS should have pulled the Euro boards and flashed the BIOS by now, if you get a motherboard with an old BIOS, you wont' post with a Conroe, so you'd have 2 options,
Get an updated Bios chip from ASUS, (Cost of shipping & Handling)
or
Get some cheap-o P4 chip and post + flash and plug a conroe into it.
I know it is a pain in the arse.
