XP Sp2 *.adm files added to w2k AD server

I need to add XP sp2 *.adm files to our w2k AD server to be able to manage
our new xp machines. I have read as much as I can, but still have a
question. When I add the *.adm files to a GPO, will the settings for that
GPO be kept? I would hope so. I don't want to have to reconfigure the GPO
with the previous settings. I just want to add the configuration settings
for XP.
We will have both w2k and Xp workstations. I know that w2k will ignore the
XP settings.
I also know about the hotfix for w2k to be able to deal with the new XP code.
I will do that before adding the new SP sp2 *.adm files to each GPO.
