Compaq P1220 Vertical lines

Hi I have a recently purchased Compaq P1220 - 22" monitor, it has a Diamondtron the specs are at -

And i was very happy with it, really nice beautiful tex + images, no complaints.

Now i have noticed these vertical lines in certain areas of my monitor, they appear to be white, they are also stongest in the middle and dissapate towards the middle and bottom.

I have checked the manual and they mention black vertical lines caused by "grille element overlap", but im pretty damn sure these lines are white.
(before anyone asks - these lines are not horizontal, i know those to lines are supposed to be there. O.K?)
The manual says to turn the brightness up 100% and place a white window in the area "...cause localized heating of the overlap which will clear in a few minutes." I have tried this with no luck, first for a few minutes then for alot of minutes.

Also have tried at different resolutions and refresh rates. No luck. Have let it cool down and looked at it in the morning. STill no luck.

ANy help would be appreaciated, i really do not want to lug this thing over to compaq, i would be stretched to find the time.
