Thats the Question....the Venise is a 2.4 and the Manchester is 2.0 Ghz....does that make the single core faster for Gamin??

Because the 64 3800 has a faster clock it will be faster in alot of games that currently can only use one core.

As more games arrive that can use multiple cores, the X2 3800 will have an advantage.

The 3800+ single will last a year+ and by that time you can get a dirt cheap dual core with much more programs that use it.

Also, you can overclock the dual-core to roughly the same frequency as you can overclock the single core, therefore having high clockspeed, and still have the benefits of dual-core.

The X2-3800 runs at 2x1.8GHz

0_o ?!

As prozac26 pointed out, each core run at 2GHz (1.8GHz would be the 165 Opty).

X2s do have almost as much OC headroom as single cores, making it easy to hit the same clockspeed. While you can OC an X2, you can't add a 2nd core to a single core CPU...

With the price drops, the price difference between the 3800+ and the X2 3800+ is almost insignificant, an extra 30~40$ goes a long way.
