Windows XP font problem

So my grandson did something to his XP pc that caused the fonts to be
unreadable. They look like symbols or wingdings. Interestingly, I can the
stuff that is standard in Windows but cant read anything in the dropdown
boxes. I have no idea what he did to cause it and I have no idea how to
revert it back to normal windows font. I tried to do a system restore but of
course that didnt work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
