Hmm...Building a latop. Interesting.

Any particular reason?

Anyways, I think you want to get a Yonah or a Core 2 Duo, if there are any 775 notebook motherboard availables. I have a question, where might one acquire a notebook motherboard?

What is this for? What is the budget?

CPU: Core 2 Duo (when it comes out)

RAM: 2gb DDR2

HDD: The biggest SATA disk

GPU: The fastest nV Go! card

Now supply either a budget or some suggestions to get a real answer!

We need specifics!

What will you be using it for, how big of a screen do you want, and do you want thin and light or heavy powerhouse. These three questions are generally what I need to start suggesting a laptop.

I know a guy we refer to as the "The Laptop Man" who steals them out of peoples cars. I could hook you up cheap. Maybe he can throw in a iPod too. haha

Small and low power are hard to fit into any laptop gaming machine....

$1500.... Alienware is OK, slightly pricey. Maingear is too much.Killer is out, too much again. HP/Compaq doesn't have enough in the GPU department. Looks like Alienware is your only choice, they do have a mobile X1800 for not too much. Have I missed any good makers?

Well, its a little bit over budget at $1647, but...

E1705 (17" screen)
17" Truelife screen WUXGA (you can downgrade the screen to within $1500)
2GB RAM @ 533
60GB hard drive
DVD burner
256MB Geforce GO 7900GS
B/G wireless

Battery life is around 3 hours, weight is about 8 pounds.

I dunno ... I'm an Acer guy myself. I think that they're the best bang for buck. I would go for something like this: Travelmate 4670 .

You can spec out a E1705 with discounts for $1250 with a 7900GS. It's probably going to be my next work computer...
