Hi all
I am having problems with my faithful old HP Laserjet 4P since I
switched to Windows XP Pro.
I upgraded the printer with Postscript from new (does that make it the
equivalent of an 4MP?), but under XP I can't get it to print using any
Postscript driver. I've tried the native XP drivers for 4P/4MP, Laserjet
4 and even good solid old Linotronic 200 with no luck. I've also tried
with HP's own drivers downloaded from the net.
When I go to print the printer seems to respond immediately -- too
quickly it seems for it to be processing the job -- and ejects one blank
page, followed by another headed "Error: Undefined". Yet the printer
generates its internal Postscript test pages perfectly all right.
But PCL drivers are a problem too. Trying to print a simple one-page
letter today, the only ones I could get to work were HP's own LJ4 driver
and the native XP driver for the 4MP. Others I tried, including the
actual 4P drivers from both HP and XP, printed pages with letters
missing and garbage overprinted.
Can anyone help please? This is a lovely printer that has always worked
perfectly up to now :-(
