Well after a few years and with a R&D budget six times bigger that Amd, Intel has managed to do something right
However buying a new Cpu with a new MOBO right away without waiting at least to 1-2 months to see how good they really are is madness.
I personally have a system build around a Amd cpu(AMD643000+,skt 754, 1gbram kingmax, atix800provivo16piplines active from gigabyte, 80 gbs hdd seagate sata150.Chieftec case340wattspsu)and it served me well for 3 years with only 1upgrade: video card(2years ago in november).
I will buy a new system after windows vista is released and not before and in doing so I will have plenty of time to make a wise decision
Regarding Amd's position I have to say that they should have accelerated their R&D program in order to better react to Intel's actions and they should have made a more agressive marketing campain while the crown belonged to them
Before I close this I hope you guys at Tom's Hardware will provide us with a complete comparison between Amd and intel dual core cpu's and I hope as i written in your survey I hope you can put on the web videos taken during test
