I've read this somewhere but I can't remember where, but can someone tell me or direct me to how I can install games to where I don't need the disk each time.
Well, you either need a crack, which I don't really advise getting, or a program of some sort. Your more likly to find a virus on those sites, so I advise against that. I have heard of programs that apparently make virtual copies of the CDs.
I use Alcohol 120%. Mostly just for Total Annihilation. (TIP: In TA, when your at the screen to select opponants, Commander Die's options etc. Press the * key on your numeric keypad, then press X on your keyboard. This will enable up to 9 opponents instead of 4. Now ally all 9 together and play against them, lots of fun).
I recently Purchased Game Jackal I have just started to play with it. It is designed to allow you to play without the CD in. It also "Protects" the Game Companies by encrypting parts of the files so that you cannot copy them to another computer and Play them on that computer. (I just got it and am not sure of all the details).
Game Jackal seems to be a great idea. I don't Pirate, (OK I stopped back in like 1987 when I went from C64 to Amiga, I decided Stealing their work was not right). I do like to remove copy protection from disks and use copies of disks rather than originals. (Some of the Copy Protection Schemes are unstable and intrusive).
Alcohol 120% is a great comprehensive package for CD Burning/Copying. I have never regretted purchasing it. (I am sure I will feel the same way about Game Jackal in a few months too).
One little side note. If you use programs like A120% some games will assume your a Filthy Pirate and will not let you play the game. You may have to uninstall it to play these games. (or go to Gamecopyworld.com and get a patch to remove the protection).
cracks are a million time better because theyre way smaller and use almost no harddrive space, 30mbs compared to a 5GB DvD. remeber not to download patches haha they usually fix the cracks(DUH). Peace.
