Hi guys..

Can someone give me a few ideas what a cooked Southbridge would do to a system?

I have a Pentium 4 2.4ghz under the seat in my car. it gets pretty hot under there!

suddenly I have random problems in windows, crashing etc.. dumps
then i try reinstall windows XP have problems formatting, problems extracting the files from cd, problems installing windows in different areas.. Tried install at least 6 times with different setup's new IDE CAbles etc! still not installing!

Would this be related to southbridge! I got a spare p4 mobo P4PE, it works fine.. so my RAM/CPU/VGA is fine, it was the GIgabyte 8IG1000 v3 mobo
The south have no heatsink
north have a small HS but I put a fan!

any ideas? are my suspesions correct in idea of southbridge is the problem!

I just want to know if I had put a sink&fan on southbridge would it have helped?

P.S. Mobo running time was approx 4-5months! of no problems In Car Entertainment system!
