300GB SATA media problem

[/b]Hello there!!

My problem is regarding 300 GB SATA hard disk and the problem is with media. I have replaced it thrice on wauranty, but this time i want an expert openion.

Please if anyone can help me with this, as this is causing me real problem.

First two times, there was media failure problem, but the third time, the problem was that whenever i wanted to burn a cd OR copy data from and the source drive is this 300GB SATA , there was data communication error and then both the partitions of the 300 GB SATA dis-appear, and on re-starting the system , they are accessable.


Please help me with this.

Please list your hardware. My initial guess is your running a SATA-II drive on a SATA-I controller. You may need to jumper the drive to 150mb/s. I've also heard that certain maxtor drives have problems with nforce4 chipsets. Listing your hardware should provide more answers.
