Hello. I ordered a AMD x2 4600+ this morning, and already have a Ati x1900xt from my last build. Im looking for a AM2 motherboard that supports crossfire (looking to get another xfire card). Im a bit confused though.....All the of high end motherboards all say NVIDIA nforce(which i know is the northbridge), but will they support crossfire?? I am looking at the ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe, and the Foxconn C51XEM2AA- 8EKRS2H. Can somone give me a recomendation, or an explanation?? Thanks.
nForce chipsets, or any made by nVidia for that matter, do not support Crossfire. You need an ATI chipset to use Crossfire. Anything else will not support it. And how often do you upgrade? Seems odd that you have a top-end card from your old build...
I dont upgrade that often. I made the mistake of buying a amd 3500+ back in the spring.....i figured i would take advantage of the price drops and go ahread and move to dual core. So...i guess i have 2 choices....use my x1900xt by itself, or sell that and get soemthing like a 7950 or maybe a fast 7900gt?? i play fear, oblivion, countrstrike. mistly fps's. Is there an ETA on a crossfire board for AM2>?
I believe DFI is making one, but I don't know when any are coming out. But to be honest, I don't really pay attention to ATI's chipsets...I prefer nVidia's stuff...
