Hey guys, I am hoping this thread can be told to everyone in the other sections, I'd like to know this: Why did you choose your nickname?
Mine is from being a hysterical FF8 player, I loved the word Eden and since [GF]Eden, I've been using it as my reference nickname in most logins online. Either Eden or [GF]Eden, you can't miss me!
So where did your name come from?
(I'll put the thread link in my sig so everyone gets a chance to come answer)
EDIT: Ok is there any way to fit the damn link to my sig, if the limit is 100 chars??? God this board has too many restrictions...

I've had this name since 1998... it's the main character in Battlezone. differnet spelling though, cause on heat.net someone had already taken grizzly1 so i changed it around a bit.

I'm Pettytheft or Pettytheft484. It comes from my former days as a thief. When I finally got caught stealing something it was for Pettytheft (Friggin undercover geeks caught me stealing batteries, that pretty girl may work for the store, WATCH OUT!)

This question makes me reflect back to the days when I was wild, and only out for myself. Until, I was humble beyond all means and could even help myself. When I was at the lowest point in my life I look around and saw that, everyone else was just like I was (only out for themselves).
I made a deal with God, saying if He would help me out of the mess I had made of my life, that I would devote my life to helping others. Needless to say, I became a christian and studied the life of Jesus Christ. Since around 1994 I have been using this handle jc14all.
j = Jesus, c = Christ, 1 = One, 4 = For, all = All (Jesus Christ One For All). It's a sober reminder of who I was and who I have become. Well, you asked and this is why.

No, I never got into cars, more like breaking and entering. Plus scams, credit cards, Identity theft, fencing stolen goods, etc. I was always too much of a wuss (or too smart) to get into dope dealing. I would work twice as hard the dope dealers, but I never liked the whole scene. (Plus I tend to feel sorry for dope addicts) I would steal little stuff just for kicks. The only reason why the cops charged me is because I had $800 bucks in cash, it kinda pissed'em off. Shortly after I decided to clean up my act and join the Marines.
I've met alot of really good car thiefs. Suprisingly that movie is somewhat accurate. Not the car chase stuff but at the ability of some of the thiefs. However, many car thiefs are car jackers, and that is just ugly buisness.
We are never alone.

Hey, you had one of dem e-pifanee things didn't ya. I recently did as well. After a life of greed (This included me making money in the IT industry) I decided I had to make a change. I'm currently studying to become a paramedic. I dont go to church but I do teach a computer class there on Saturday mornings, plus tutor inner city kids (Oakland, CA)in math and english as volunteer work.
Yeah it is true, everytime you help someone a little lower in life than you stand, you have to bend to their level, and in doing so, you are making a difference in yours and their stature. Then after helping them stand a little taller you get a different perspective of thing more important. Quickly, you realize that it's not all about what's best for yourself but what's better for others. This is wisdom.
On the contra, those who stand tall, too tall to bend makes no difference in their stature nor anyone else's, but become stiff, prideful, and very unhappy with themselves. They never quite get it, but seem to think that the world revolves around themselves. They are ever learning but never growing the wiser.

I know what you mean, by leaving and going back to school I'm losing about 20k per year, I dont care. In fact I'm happier than now than I have been in years.
*sniff*
Anything goes when it comes to hoes cuz pimpin aint easy.
Feet, inches, centimeter have nothing to do with where your heart is. A smile or a kind word from another person can make a difference in another's life, but when you give a little bite of yourself away you give a little healing to the soul. I have always regarded your post here @THG as very intelligible and helpful inspite of you physical stature. Keep up the good works.

oh no, i know, was just making a joke ( i have a weird sense of humor). no, but seriously, i completely understand what you guys are talking about. at 23, i'm just starting to get on with what i want to finally do. i went through a lot of stuff, just in my own head. i can tell you this, you definitely do not have to die in sin or anything to go to hell. i was there for a little bit.

Sorry Eden, I didn't intend to change the nature of you poll. This is a very good idea, and I hope everyone continues to post under your poll. There is always a purpose and meaning behind a person's name, and I share mine only when asked.

mine originated about 7 or so yrs ago,
its the user name I use for everything, if there is a site where this user name is taken (unlikable)- I usually go somewhere else.
when I first got in to computers, I quickly learned about email... therefore I needed a user name.
I wanted it to be something simple that anyone can quickly understand and remember,
so when ever I am asked or have to give my email out to someone in verbal form- I dont want to spell it,
I wanted just to say it, so they would know it without spelling it back to me.
I guess I like doing things efficient and fast.
so globe was not available at hotmail (my public email),
so I had to make it up with a number, hey- three ones
so globe111@hotmail.com, I rarely had to repeat myself or spell it before giving it out to someone (its also handy when some one needs your email, and they dont have a pen)
so I never ask theirs, I tell them to email me and I will reply.
well, doing computers for a living, you preatty much do everything with it,
so to keep things simple and efficient, I use globe111 as a user name/ account name for everything -including thgc.
my 2 rubles.
S V = name, backname
OL=On Line or Overclock Lover (in reality the second and third letter of my backname). My website is also called svol and my ISP nick is svo.
It's not a bug, it's a feature
THGC: before:
, after:
Varlo is a nick I got when I was about 12,in french there is an expression "faire la varloppe" whitch basicly meen to make poeple laught,so one of my frend started calling me varlo because I was the class clown and that nick stuck to me since,a lot of poeple don't even know my real name and call me varlo all the time thinking it is actualy my name.
The faster a computer is, the faster it will reach a crashed state
I'm not very clever, so my ID is my first and second initial followed by me last name.
T.M. Lim
Child hood nick name that has stuck with me 15 years later.

Nope!!!
I'm very male. Ask Spud, Yahiko, or Toey.
In fact ask anyone who has been here as long as I have. Granted they couldn't prove I'm male (although the named ones could, cos they've seen a pic of me), but then I've never been asked before.
If your interested, my first name is David.

Perhaps someone can tell me what my username means...
I origonally was told by my Russian friend it ment Executioner, I thought that was cool, so I used it.
I found out later that's not what it ment. Oh well, I'm used to it now, plus it's usally never taken.
Anyways...it's really suppost to be pronouned Ka-nyaz but I pronounce it Kan-az because I'm American and it's easer to say.
If anyone does know what it means please tell me (It is Russian, or Azerbijanian)
