Just picked up a 4400+ for $275 CAN !!!

I know they are not part of the official price cuts, but looks like the odd e-tailer is looking to clear out their CPUs....

I was going to wait for a Core 2, but the old 1meg cache Toledo for that cheap was too hard to pass up. Hopefully it OCs nice

I also picked up a 3800+. At $175 CAN, too hard to resist.

I'll get a Core 2 later. Too many deals on cheap CPUs right now to pass up. Should be fun over the next few weeks :)

I know everyone wants Core 2, but this is crazy. I love it!

That's what I have. I paid $500 US a little less than a year ago. It's FAST. Not Core 2 fast but Windows FAST. Q4 fast. That and a 7800GT allows me to play HQ @1280. I guess FEAR may mean a second card but hey the 4400+ will do the job. I don't wait for anything.

I agree. They are very fast. I'm glad you are happy with yours.

I've built quite a few X2s before for customers, but never had the money to burn for one myself. But now, joe six pack can afford a kick ass chip.

I know 939s are disco'd, but DDR 400 is still cheap. I didn't want to wait for DDR 800 to fall in price and become more available for AM2/Core2.

I wish people would stop arguing about stuff they've read about and just go out and buy some stuff. Then they could post about how much fun they had building and using their rig :)

I'm in a similar position; the X2 4800+ is selling for $300, when I paid over $900 for it a year ago. :(

Ouch. I feel your pain. I can forego FX60 now for a 4800+. They're not that far apart. I just wish I had laid out the extra doug for 939 instead of the 754 I got. I could just pop my 4400+ in the old machine.

I can actually afford to buy a new system, but then I'd have two systems not doing anything. That's why I'm sticking where I am. Over a few months I can piece together a 939 barbones and then switch out my mobo and sell the 754 system.

I will have two 5000+. AMD better make 4x4 all X2 and FX. Two FX will still beat two 5000+.

It is tempting to think about selling my 4800+ and buying an fx-60 at these prices. I realize that conroe is the best chip, but fx-60 is still damn good.

Yes it definitely is. If I had a system to put my 4400+ into, I'd seriously consider FX60 over 4800+.

Wait, you bought a 3800 and a 4400? How many PCs do you have? I assume you are upgrading a 939 or AM2 board, which type of CPU did you buy?

Looks like some people are benefitting from the price cuts, good luck on the upgrades!

That's the worst way to look at it.

The best way to look at it is to think about the fact that you were one of the first people to have a dual core processor while everyone else is running a crappy pentium 4 or athlon xp.

never look at what you paid for just consider the fact you were one of the first to get one! =)

I paid 900 dollars for a 19inch LCD - they are going for 300 now. I probably paid 500 bucks for my pentium 4 3.06ghz with the first generation hyperthreading technology.

While we might be the first to get core 2 duo - consider the fact that from a year from now you'll be able to get the same processor we are getting for half the price.

I'm in a similar position; the X2 4800+ is selling for $300, when I paid over $900 for it a year ago. :(

I agree completely with sk8er, you gotta dish out the $$$ to be on the bleeding edge. Most times it isn't worth it either because you usually get the worst price/performance ratios.
