Do you think that with the falling prices of AM2 processors that its a good time to invest in a new pc. I spend many hours gaming and am constantly burning DVD's. I would build something along the lines of AM2 X2 4800+ on a new mobo and with a new Video card and memory, the hole shhbang, or...

Should I wait until the K8L 4x4 for a system upgrade. I'm also only willing to pay arougd $1300 for a new system. What do you think

I assume you're on a 939 motherboard.

In which case, I'd look at the 939 X" 4600+ which are diret cheap now, get another gb of RAM and look at something like a 7900GT or a X1900XT or higher.

Save the rest of the cash towards getting your next upgrade, or buy a DX10 graphics card in a few months time.

The above system will last a long while.

Yeah, i'm on a 939 mobo. I'm definatly going to upgrade the video card. I just don't want to buy a new CPU to only have to buy another when i switch over to AM2/AM3. I may try to hold out the cpu until AM3 comes out or 4x4. The memory is an easy upgrade also. Thanks

just the memory and vid car should be more than enough to tide you over until the next gen parts come up, if you find you need more power and apps are starting to be dual core optimized you can always drop an x2 3800 in on the cheap
