CES 2006: Highlights of Thursday's coverage from TG Daily

The first official day of this year's Consumer Electronics Show - which we who keep count call "Day 2" - brought the two competing high-definition videodisc formats back into the spotlight. Hi,

Do you know if it's possible to use a wireless headset with the Samsung
i700?

I know that

a) the i700 can use a SDIONow! compatible Bluetooth card and
b) there are Bluetooth headsets available in the stores

so in theory it seems like it should work... but is anyone actually
*doing* this successfully? Presumably everything depends on the ability of
the card and the i700 to support a Bluetooth "headset profile" and I'm not
sure if either of them do.

Any ideas?

David

Hi Lamont,

I'm not doing this now, but would be interested in furthering the discussion
a bit. Sounds like a great accessory.

The only one I found was this:

What model are you looking at?

My main concern would be that anyone in 30 feet could drop in on my
conversation but that model says it has 128bit encryption. Also it only has
one ear piece so music would be mono I guess.

I wonder if there is a model more suited for the i700?

Thanks for the response. I researched this a bit further on USENET and
discovered that no one who has attempted to use a Bluetooth headset with the
i700 has been successful. The problem is that the SDIO Bluetooth card that
is typically used with the i700
(http://www.socketcom.com/product/BL4800-392.asp) does not support a
"headset profile."

bummer...
